A Seat At The Table
Today was the first meeting of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) 2017 intern cohort. We are a group of 15 individuals (and one awesome fellowship recipient joining our orientation), placed at various internships around Washington, D.C. We represent myraid disabilities, educational backgrounds, extra-curricular activities, and life goals. At this table, we share our painful memories, our moments of triumph, our hope, and our desire to be recognized as valued members of our communities.
This week's blog posts will introduce topics affecting the disabled community, cohort members, and reflections on sections of The Disability Studies Reader.
Welcome to Washington, D.C.
