A Seat at the Table - Why are you here?

On a hot spring day in June, we gathered on the lawn before the Capitol building. With the Supreme Court of the United States to our back, and senators straight ahead, we advocated for Medicaid. "No cuts. No caps." Representatives from all journeys and destinations shouted as one voice for the protection of Medicaid benefits. We charged every participant to encourage all in his/her circle to contact senators and demand that disability rights be protected.

This rally did not push a partisan agenda, and the groups present on the lawn composed one of the most diverse groups I have witnessed in a long time. As several participants exclaimed, this rally is not about one party or the other, but about human rights. We are all just one event away from disability, medical emergency/disaster, and a complete shift in our lifestyle.
Please listen to the sounds of the rally, including some brief interviews with participants. You can find your sentor's information here, and I encourage you to exercise your voice. It is your right and your duty to ensure your voice is heard.

  1. Although there are only a few pictures, it depicts the diversity, showing the variety of people that would be affected with cuts and caps made to Medicaid. Well done! -Tahti
